Pip Blom ~ Catcher at Kung Fu Necktie

PIP BLOM Amsterdam’s Pip Blom released their debut album ‘Boat’ on Friday 31st May 2019.Pip’s in a very interesting space sonically; with the help of a dedicated band, Pip has evolved her sound away from simple, hooky tunes to expertly-crafted songs with unassuming depth. Although, she’d never actually admit to it. She’s too modest. “I hope that if you listen to Boat, you can hear the different routes we explored…We took our time and it was quite a journey, but I think it was time for us to finally release an album,” says Pip. “We’ve grown so much as a band, both live and in terms of songwriting. Our boat hasn’t reached its final destination yet, but if think with releasing this album, it’s a great pit stop.”CATCHERCatcher is a Brooklyn-based post-punk band with a reputation for visceral and powerful live performances. Drawing comparisons to the birthday party, sonic youth and the fall, catcher delivers music with a driving and inundating low-end, provided by childhood friends Cameron Mcrae and Wilson Chestney, on bass and drums respectively. Guitarists Jack Young and Christian Reech interweave melodies and noise to create an environment that manages to be at once both bleak and moving, desolate but hopeful, violent but tender. Classically trained violinist Zach Mezzo brings, through his background in experimental composition, a combination of moody swells, driving staccatos, and vicious noise that enrich and accentuate the dynamics and dramatics inherent to the band’s songwriting. Vocalist Austin Eichler commands listeners with a domineering and chaotic presence. From drawling croons to powerful screams, Austin’s narrative lyrics invoke a wide spectrum of emotion while creating a world of their own. Through endless hours of practice and work the band has crafted a gripping and tight live performance and a growing international fanbase.

Flatfoot 56 ~ Foxycontin ~ The Koosmans at Kung Fu Necktie

THIS SHOW HAS BEEN MOVED TO SILK CITY (435 SPRING GARDEN ST). ALL PURCHASED TICKETS WILL BE HONORED.FLATFOOT 56Playing a positive-natured brand of hardcore-tinged Celtic punk, Flatfoot 56 has been unleashing itself upon America and the rest of the world for over 20 years now. Forming in 2000, the Chicago natives achieved nationwide attention with their first two label-backed records, 2006’s Knuckles Up and 2007’s Jungle of the Midwest Sea. These releases built on a heavy dose of previously established regional notoriety, helping the band gain steam early on.FOXYCONTINFoxycontin, an American band based in Philadelphia, are four men devoted to playing high-spirited, pop punk. Formed in 2003, the band features members of Philly punk legends The Electric Love Muffin and Krhissy. Over the course of their career, they have endeared themselves to the Philadelphia music scene for their high energy live performances, crisp well-structured songs, and tight execution. On their long awaited debut LP This Time You’re On Your Own (Sister Raygun Records), the band, under the guidance of producer Pete Rydberg, has captured a sound that echoes the halcyon days of Stiff Records as well as the raging melodiousness of Stiff Little Fingers and The Ramones.https://foxycontin.bandcamp.com/album/this-time-you-re-on-your-ownTHE KOOSMANSThe acoustic garage punk inspired duo The Koosmans was spawned after Franny Koosman’s return from an 18 month exile to Scotland in late 2016.https://thekoosmans.bandcamp.com/album/frannys-garage

*CANCELED* Jeremy & the Harlequins at Kung Fu Necktie

JEREMY & THE HARLEQUINS Magic materializes in many forms, but its clearest manifestation in our world would be music. It exists unseen in the ether, yet certainly leaves a physical, emotional, and spiritual imprint. Jeremy & The Harlequins deal in this sort of magic. Finding the crossroads between sun-soaked sixties California harmonies and New York garage rock gutter fuzz, the quintet kickstart a new phase of American rock ‘n’ roll. Following 2013’s American Dreamer, they quietly emerged as a critical and fan favorite with Into The Night [2016] and Remember This [2018]. Along the way, they earned the endorsement of USA Today, Paste, Interview, Wall Street Journal, Nylon, Consequence of Sound, Atwood Magazine, Relix, and Huffington Post who christened them “true originals.” Meanwhile, they can be heard loud and clear throughout popular culture with syncs in Edge of Tomorrow: Live. Die. Repeat., Seal Team, Shameless, Vampire Diaries, Royal Pain, Heavy, Life Partners, and a Miller High Life national campaign. On SiriusXM, Little Steven’s Underground Garage selected “Starlight” as its “Coolest Song In The World” and “Trip Into The Light” as the “Coolest Song of the Year.” Everything just set the stage for their fourth full-length and 2022 Pasadena Records debut, ABRA CaDaBRA.  To conjure up this magic, they tracked the music at Van Zandt’s Renegade Studios with producer Geoff Sanoff [Bruce Springsteen, Little Steven, Jesse Malin]. For vocals, they reteamed with Rick Parker [Lord Huron, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Scott Weiland] in Hollywood’s Sandbox Studios. They also welcomed an all-star cast of supporting players such as Hamilton lead violinist Jonny Dinklage, Ben Jaffe [tenor sax], and Steve Garcia [trumpet]. The boys introduce this chapter with the spellbinding single “Let Me Out Of You.”

Escape From the Zoo ~ Public Serpents ~ The Looms

ESCAPE FROM THE ZOO“Escape From the Zoo are one of those bands where you are expecting a mellow trip down Mr. Toads wild ride, and suddenly realize you accidentally got in line for a death coaster that speeds down the track at 70 miles per hour, with no seat belts” – PunkRock Newshttps://escapefromthezoo.bandcamp.com/PUBLIC SERPENTSPublic Serpents are the product of an experiment gone wrong, mankind. A paranoid schizophrenic layering of chatter fused with manic, ghetto/punk beats make for a proper background to the apocalypse professed by the bands frontman, Skwert.https://tentcityrecords.bandcamp.com/album/public-serpents-escape-from-the-zoo-split-epTHE LOOMS Anarcho-Folk Punks occupying the imperialist territory known as ‘South Jersey’! The Looms are a rambunctious crew that brings a great time wherever they go. Inspired by punk, folk, ska, old union songs, and a bit of prog and pop; their lyrics range from calls to revolution, comradery, solidarity, and having too many holes in your socks. Comprised of a philosopher, a film connoisseur, and the Twin Loom nurses, they’re always down for a conversation—to hear your story, or share one of their own! https://www.thelooms.band/
