**All shows 21+—valid ID required** Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 7:30 PM Michael RaultMichael Rault’s second full-length, It’s A New Day Tonight, has its home in the darkness, like much rock and roll—many of its songs look at nocturnal activities, particularly sleep. “Sleeping and dreaming were attractive concepts,” says Rault. “I was looking for an escape from a lot of frustrating and dissatisfying conditions in my day-to-day life.”The Edmonton-born, Montreal-based singer-songwriter-producer began working on its songs in earnest after winding down the tour supporting his 2015 full-length Living Daylight, but getting to the point of having an album was a process. “It’s crazy to think it was that long ago that I started fully applying myself to the album—there were a lot of holdups along the way,” recalls Rault. “Musically it came out of a period of dissatisfaction, creatively and personally, as I found myself pushing against the limitations of my abilities and approaches to making music.”http://michaelrault.com/site/Pearl CharlesCharles has been playing music since she was 5 years old. At 18, she formed country duo The Driftwood Singers with Christian Lee Hutson, singing and playing guitar and autoharp. At 22, she joined garage rock band The Blank Tapes as drummer. After two fun-filled years immersed in the rock and roll lifestyle, she decided it was time to pursue her own songwriting, and began developing the songs that formed 2015′s eponymous debut EP. **All shows 21+—valid ID required**Doors: 7 PMShow: 7:30 PMBlushingBlushing features two husband and wife duos consisting of Michelle Soto (guitar, vocals), Jacob Soto (drums), Christina Carmona (vocals, bass), and Noe Carmona (guitar). Jacob and Noe have been lifelong friends that played in bands growing up in El Paso, TX, though they both moved to Austin around 2009, meeting their wives there coincidentally at the same bar (Side Bar). “Naturally all four of us became close friends.” As Michelle was learning guitar, her natural talent to write music started to emerge, creating vocal melodies and guitar parts in her bedroom. Christina, already a classically trained singer, was recruited by Michelle to lend her vocal talents and soon grabbed a bass, taught herself to play and joined in to help solidify the songs. Soon Jacob and Noe began to notice how much potential the songs had so they joined in on a practice session to help flesh out guitar, drums and vocals. From there the husbands never left the group, and Blushing was formed. Their natural chemistry and like- minded musical influences helped solidify their ongoing writing process. Guitars and tape loops that glimmer and glisten. Four distinct male and female voices. Hard jangle about grief, friendship and love. Quivers were originally slated to tour in 2020, but at least the delay has brought a 2nd album, Golden Doubt (out on Ba Da Bing), and a full cover of REM’s Out of Time which the band themselves endorsed with fire emojis. As for Quivers’ sound, Pitchfork calls it “effortlessly tuneful jangle pop” and “like a Go-Betweens with Coachella ambitions”, while NPR’s Otis Hart says Quivers write “earnest earworms, and I am here for every one of them”. You can check out the band’s performance for KEXP. DJ John Richards said the single “You’re Not Always On My Mind” was one of the best songs he’d heard in years and he listened to it “8 times in a row”. Quivers recently supported The Hold Steady at The Croxton in Melbourne, which has only furthered the longing for them to return to the US. It is music for road tripping with your friends and ghosts, and that is what Quivers will do as they traverse the American landscape and pull up to the bumper for 14 or more shows. Naming the project created space for Cutler’s collection of deeply personal and surreal poetry to flourish and take new shape.
