Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Gloss persisted in creating music, releasing their first EP with remote collaborations. The Young Fresh Fellows ~ The Bret Tobias Set
AGE RESTRICTION: Only Ages 21+ can purchase tickets for this show. NO REFUNDS/EXCHANGES for anyone underage who purchases or attempts to use these tickets. Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 7:30 PMThe Young Fresh FellowsThose aging but agile Young Fresh Fellows are set to celebrate the anniversary of their out-of-time and timeless album, The Fabulous Sounds Of The Pacific Northwest. Released by Seattle’s PopLlama Products in April 1984, it turned into a snowball on a roller coaster — or something. Refusing to call playing music a career, the combo endures, at least in its own mind. Says chief songwriter Scott McCaughey: “We never broke up and we probably never will.”The Bret Tobias SetBret’s a Replacements-addled gen-x romantic still humming from the big bang of discovering MTV’s 120 Minutes in its prime (i.e. before Nirvana ruined everything). Imagine being 14 years old in Reagan’s America and hearing Sonic Youth’s “Expressway to yr Skull,” or Flesh For Lulu’s “Postcards from Paradise,” or the The Mighty Lemon Drops’ “Inside Out,” or The Wishniaks’ “Day to End All Days” or The House of Love’s “I Don’t Know Why I Love You,” or Scruffy The Cat’s “Mybabyshesalright” for the first time. Kaboom. Bret’s been striving to distill that spirit for longer than he cares to admit, initially via the punk trio Möped, and after via the wish-we-didn’t-have-to-refer-to-this-as-power-pop combo The Bigger Lovers. To be clear, this is no cheeky retro project: dude has fully digested his influences and is writing songs for the ages. Sure, a touch of folky maturity has crept in–I’m reminded of Nick Lowe who once wondered, “what do you do when you’re 30 and you’re still called Rat Scabies?”–but he ain’t boring. The Pleaser Vol. 1 EP was released in late 2023 to the acclaim of about 20 diehard Bigger Lovers fans (bless them). Pleaser Vol. 2 is due in 2024. The Set is comprised of Tracy Stanton, Jeff Tanner, Mike Kennedy and Krista Umile.
Low Hum ~ Val Fleury

AGE RESTRICTION: Only Ages 21+ can purchase tickets for this show. NO REFUNDS/EXCHANGES for anyone underage who purchases or attempts to use these tickets. Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 8:00 PMLow HumLow Hum, the kaleidoscopic creation of native Hawaiian artist Collin Desha, lives in a Lo-fi meets Hi-fi futurism: Blending fuzzed-out riffs, oceanic tranquility, and pop sensibilities, alongside melodious synths and honeyed vocals. Low Hum’s mesmerizing exploration into the sounds of the yin and yang as we live it is a journey through psychedelic soundscapes and grounding lyrical concepts that call to our courageous self; to face the unknown. Desha, who has carved out his niche in the indie rock world, continues to shape Low Hum’s distinct sound and identity on the latest offerings from Terra Incognita, upcoming full length album due May 2024 via Last Gang Records. Consequence of Sound likens “Only If You Say So” to “a cut from an alternate universe where Thom Yorke went a more club-friendly route with his electronic work. With falsetto vocals and ominous synth pads, the tune sets up a visceral and futuristic vibe that explodes into fuzzed out madness. Its a compelling, dynamic, deeply satisfying composition.” The consummate Low Hum bass synth tone and ripping riffs on opening track “Meet Me In The Sky” are instant welcome-to-the-show earworms, and “Hints” touches on what it means to human, the nature of reality, and the power of love in a forever uncertain world. Since the release of debut album Room to Breathe in 2019, and follow up Nonfiction in 2021, Low Hum has also garnered praise from tastemakers like NPR, KCRW, Clash and Relix Magazines, with Flood Magazine describing the music as “floating in similar sonic atmospheres as Tame Impala and High Fidelity legends, Beta Band.” Fan favorites “Comatose” “Nebraska” and “I Don’t Know Me Like You Do” have garnered tens of millions of streams on Youtube, Spotify and Apple Music, and Low Hum has played to thousands on tours spanning Europe, Canada, and the US. Currently on the road with Meltt, and upcoming dates on the east coast dates supporting Ra Ra Riot in May. https://www.low-hum.com/Val Fleuryhttps://www.iamvalfleury.com/

AGE RESTRICTION: Only Ages 21+ can purchase tickets for this show. NO REFUNDS/EXCHANGES for anyone underage who purchases or attempts to use these tickets. Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 7:30 PM Sir E.U Washington D.C. emcee whose high-level lyricism and diverse beat selection transcends music genres. The raw genius that emanates from Sir E.U’s live shows is something one truly has to see to believe. “I’ve seen Sir E.U rap with a Helly Hansen jacket draped over his face. I’ve seen him rap supine on the sidewalk. I’ve seen him rap clutching three microphones in his hand, as if hoping to triple the size of his voice. I once saw him rap in a state of blinky delirium during the final moments of a 25-hour concert when he only ever stopped rhyming to drink water. These performance modes might sound like stunts, but in a cumulative sense, the D.C. rapper appears unable to stop himself from broadening the critic Kodwo Eshun’s beautiful idea of hip-hop as “omni-genre.” -Washington Post https://sireu.bandcamp.com Jah$tar The Northeast Philly avant-garde rapper is one of the most versatile artists in the city. Forever Grey ~ Faux Fear ~ New Desires

AGE RESTRICTION: Only Ages 21+ can purchase tickets for this show. NO REFUNDS/EXCHANGES for anyone underage who purchases or attempts to use these tickets. Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 7:30 PMForever GreyForever Grey is a darkwave band from Los Angeles, California. The first album was released in 2015 and was titled Poems About Eternity. Young & Cold Records produced Autumn Calling, Alabaster Chamber, Departed and Sympathy Garden on vinyl. Kevin and Anna are the artists behind musical projects Milliken Chamber, Prudence and Belladonna Grave.https://forevergreyband.wixsite.com/forevergreyFaux FearDetermined to “stop repeating the boring parts of the past,” goth/post-punk trio Faux Fear formed in late 2020 shortly after singer/drum programmer Audrey (she/her) and guitarist Nicholas (he/him) moved to Reading, PA. As true Cocteau Twins scholars they won’t play pop without the prefix “dream-” in front of it. Laying the groundwork for a new band in late 2020, the married couple wrote songs and developed their sound in quarantine at home for “when human interaction became a thing again.” An initial third member became convinced that Audrey and Nicholas were working for the CIA and running a sex cult (really), which almost left Faux Fear as a duo before the Philly-based Pra (he/him) answered a Craigslist ad and completed the picture on bass. Like their darkwave forebears, Faux Fear’s offerings like “Uncharted” and “Legacy” maintain a tricky balance between atmosphere and propulsion. The trio balances the stillness of reverberating specks of guitar with thick slabs of bass and drum machine as Audrey coolly explores the space between with her calmly intense vocal lines, smoothing over even the unexpectedly dissonant chorus of the latter and taking on a whole other dimension. “Code of the Sea” is as oceanic as its title and somewhat akin to folding the rippling waves of vintage Slowdive in with New Order’s most magnetic repetitive hooks.https://fauxfear.bandcamp.com/New DesiresSince 2010, DJ Paul T has been an integral part of DJSC, a revered event night in Philadelphia that pays homage to the iconic sounds of Depeche Mode, Joy Division, New Order, The Smiths, and The Cure. This specialized focus not only underscores DJSC’s dedication to celebrating the enduring legacy of these bands but also highlights Paul’s deep-seated appreciation for the foundational pillars of post-punk. As a co-founder along side John D, Paul T has cultivated a community of enthusiasts who share a passion for these groundbreaking artists, creating a vibrant space where nostalgia and contemporary soundscapes intersect. DJ Paul T’s career, spanning over two decades since he began DJing in 2000, has been marked by a constant pursuit of musical evolution while staying true to the roots that inspired DJSC’s inception. With the launch of “New Desires,” he expands the musical repertoire of DJSC beyond its original focus, embracing a broader spectrum of genres, including modern post-punk, dream pop, dark wave, new romantic, and FM synth-based music. This initiative reflects his ambition to explore the boundaries of music and to offer his audience a more diverse listening experience.https://www.djscphilly.com
