GOZU ~ Witching ~ Waillin’ Storms ~ Planning for Burial

**All shows 21+—valid ID required** Doors: 6:00 PM Show: 6:30 PMGOZUhttps://gozu.bandcamp.com/musicWitchingFormed in 2017 from the throes of Philadelphia, WITCHING have emerged as one the underground’s most exciting bands to watch out for. The band’s sound has evolved into genre-bending, nightmarish, blackened melodic death metal that embraces and embodies the fusion of pitch-black intensity through black metal, sludge, post-metal, and more. With a handful of independently released EP’s, singles, and a full length album under their belts, a new lineup featuring Jacqui Powell (vocals), Nate Zagrimanis (guitar), Tatiana Buonassisi (bass), Samantha Hyla (drums), and Hazel Whitman (guitar), WITCHING are calling out to unify the masses by bludgeoning their way into a world where everything is formulaically stacked against them. WITCHING is marking their own path and marching head-on into a hellish ouroboros of self-destruction and self-discovery to share triumph and perseverance.witching.bandcamp.comWailin’ Stormshttps://wailinstorms.bandcamp.com/Planning for BurialThe brainchild of American songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Thom Wasluck, Planning for Burial’s gloomy experimental metal borrows from shoegaze, goth, and alt-rock as well as doom, drone, and black metal. A one-man band (both in the studio and live), Wasluck began operating under the pseudonym in 2005, releasing the first in a string of downcast LPs and splits pairing the ominous black shoegaze of Jesu with the doomy and obsessive industrial metal of Fragile-era Nine Inch Nails. After playing in several bands while growing up in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, he conceived of Planning for Burial as a solo act in 2005. Wasluck released Planning for Burial’s debut album, Leaving, in 2009, and Enemies List Home Recordings reissued it a year later. The project built a following as Wasluck issued a steady stream of short releases, including two collaborations with Lonesummer on Music Ruins Lives and 2012’s Quietly on Tycho Magnetic Anomalies. After signing with The Flenser, Planning for Burial released its second full-length album, Desideratum (which included a credit for “whiskey” alongside more traditional instruments), in 2014. Wasluck returned two years later with the single “As a Lover,” and took inspiration from moving back into his childhood home for Planning for Burial’s third album, 2017’s Below the House. That same year, Wasluck issued Matawan: Collected Works 2010-2014, a compilation of out of print non-album tracks that he originally recorded in his former home of Matawan, New Jersey.https://open.spotify.com/artist/4nhaUpMjrBW8vywsP2yzzD

Crocodiles ~ MK & The Ultras ~ Civil Rats ~ DJ UFO

**All shows 21+—valid ID required** Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 7:30 PM CrocodilesToday, Crocodiles (Brandon Welchez and Charles Rowell) announce their highly anticipated forthcoming LP, Upside Down In Heaven (due April 7 via Lolipop Records). To introduce the record, they have shared its first single, “Degeneration,” alongside an accompanying music video, directed by Kate Clover and one half of the Crocodiles duo, Brandon Welchez. Said Welchez of their newest track and its inspirational basis: “The heaviness of life on a violent, dying planet can often push us towards our worst impulses. ‘Degeneration’ was written in the boiling, diseased summer of 2020 where I found myself overworked, underpaid and choking on wildfire smoke. The free time I had was spent doom-scrolling the latest covid death toll or inundating myself with news of literal fascists marching the streets. I found myself floating on a cloud of anger, fear and frustration. Rather than allow myself to fall into bad old habits or succumb to my negative emotions, I poured myself into my music. Talking about my degeneration beats actively seeking it out.” “Degeneration” was recorded at Quiksilver Studios, St. Jean de Luz, France in September 2021. It was written by Brandon Welchez and Charles Rowell, produced by Maxime Smadja, engineered by Mako, and mixed by Mark Rains. It features Atef Aouadhi on bass and Diego Dal Bon on drums. Stay tuned for Upside Down In Heaven, out April 7 via Lolipop Records.https://www.facebook.com/killcrocodiles/MK & The Ultras After nearly a decade on the road with Philadelphia’s Toy Soldiers, Matt Kelly formed MK & The Ultras out of his love of fuzzy 60s psych, surf, and punk rock. MK & The Ultras’ songs summon the frenetic exploding energy of The Stooges, The 13th Floor Elevators, and Ty Segall. Their snarled urgency is reminiscent of Black Flag and Jay Reatard, while a hint of 50s swagger evokes Kelly’s stint playing guitar for The Queen of Rockabilly, Wanda Jackson. The result is “high energy rock n roll that is enlightening, inspiring and highly psychedelic.”https://mkandtheultras.bandcamp.com/Civil Rats What do you get when you cross three rodents with a love of music, partying, and nonsense? Born Without Bones ~ Innerlove ~ Bike Routes

**All shows 21+—valid ID required** Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 7:30 PMBorn Without BonesThere’s a song called “Sudden Relief” on Dancer, the new Born Without Bones album, that’s unlike anything Scott Ayotte has ever written before. That’s not because of the evolution of the Milford, MA outfit from solo project to fully-fledged band, either. Guitarist Jonathan Brucato and bassist Jim Creighton have been a part of the permanent line-up for a long time now, and Super American’s Sam Checkoway – who played on last year’s re-recorded retrospective EP, Pictures Of The Sun – was behind the kit for the whole record, the first time in the band’s history that that’s happened. This goes even deeper. It’s the first time that Ayotte has written a love song that’s not about love going or having gone wrong. Quite the opposite, in fact. “It’s written not from the perspective of having lost love but having gained love,” he explains. “Before, I didn’t write about any relationships until they were over, and it wasn’t usually in the most positive way. But this is a positive song I wrote for and about my girlfriend. Even though it says the nice things about her, I decided to keep in the not so nice things about me – because she’s also signing up for those. Luckily, she’s loving of both.” https://lnk.to/BornWithoutBones_MusicInnerlovenew york organic rock and roll co.https://innerlove.bandcamp.com/Bike Routes//South Jersey Acoustic// //Bike Routes is David Lawrence Osterhout//https://bikeroutesnj.bandcamp.com/

Morgul Blade ~ Sonja ~ Outsect
**All shows 21+—valid ID required** Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 7:30 PMMorgul BladePhiladelphia’s Morgul Blade writes traditional heavy metal with a nod to second wave Scandinavian black metal, combined with the lore of the great J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle Earth, and other subjects including history and folklore. The 4-piece outfit explores the darker, more sinister side of heavy metal with harsh vocals interspersed with heroic clear ones. Telling tales of magick and might, forlorn battlefields, heroic deeds, and beings of unlimited power, the band released their hotly anticipated debut full length; Fell Sorcery Abounds” (No Remorse Records) in 2022. Morgul Blade hopes to transcend the subgenres of metal and create music that builds worlds and takes you away from crushing modernity.Sonjahttps://sonjaband.bandcamp.com/OutsectThe members of The Out-Sect all met while living in a Philadelphia junkyard. On weekends, they would gather to drink beers inside a broken down 1982 GMC Caballero with a copy of Back From The Grave stuck in the car;s cassette player. Instantly being drawn to the trashy sounds of those pimple-faced mid-60s punks, they figured they could write a song half as good as any of them. And that’s just what they did! Using instruments they, quite literally, found in the trash, the band has managed to write a handful of deranged “songs” that will leave you asking yourself “What is that smell?” and “Dear god, can they just stop playing!?”
