However, the Donuts have taken things one step beyond. They return to Kung Fu to celebrate the release of their latest record, The Pleasure of Seconds. Yes, the boys took it upon themselves to write answer songs to Rockpile’s originals. Seconds, as it were. Rockpile affectionately sang “Teacher Teacher”; the Donuts celebrate a sexy “Substitute Teacher.” Rockpile’s “When I Write the Book” is answered with “Every Book I Never Read.” You get the point. None of this would matter if the Donuts – called “a band to watch” in Playgirl magazine – didn’t coat their pub rock replies in the usual power pop confection for which they have long been celebrated. Come join ‘the nuts for this much anticipated record release party! Foxycontin Foxycontin, an American band based in Philadelphia, are four men devoted toplaying high-spirited, pop punk. Formed in 2003, the band features membersof Philly punk legends The Electric Love Muffin and Krhissy. Over thecourse of their career, they have endeared themselves to the Philadelphiamusic scene for their high energy live performances, crisp well-structuredsongs, and tight execution. On their long awaited debut LP This Time You’reOn Your Own (Sister Raygun Records), the band, under the guidance ofproducer Pete Rydberg, has captured a sound that echoes the halcyon days ofStiff Records as well as the raging melodiousness of Stiff Little Fingers andThe Ramones. A former pro snowboarder reborn as a nomadic psych-pop prophet, Englehorn has lived a rollercoaster life that reads like one of the fantastical fables that fill his songbook. His early albums—2020’s Death & Transfiguration, 2022’s Dungeon Master, and 2025’s The Hornbook—introduced listeners to his unpredictable blend of lo-fi charm, surreal storytelling, and genre-warping invention. With The Broken Balladeer, Englehorn reunites with producer Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers), continuing a collaboration that began on The Hornbook and further refining his off-kilter, time-bending sound.

In 2017, he uploaded two home-recorded tracks (‘Daddy Blue’ and ‘O.T.D.’) that he had written for his girlfriend at the time. His SoundCloud blew up, going from a dozen plays a day to 500 or more, eventually taking those two songs to 19 million streams at Spotify alone. Meanwhile, the likes of Clash and The Line of Best Fit were heralding him as one to watch, with i-D praising him as being, “Probably the only weirdo Scouse jazz crooner you’ll ever need.” And those talents grew with every release, taking in the ‘Eternal Slowdown’ EP in 2018 and his 2020 debut album ‘Kinky Om’, before lockdown mania took him on a detour into country with the ‘Hank Stankovic’ EP.But now Brad raises the bar with his upcoming second album ‘In The Midst of You’. The stoned baritone of his voice brings the dusky, after hours vibe to a collection of songs which playfully traverse R&B, laidback psychedelia, and jazz.
