Groove Merchants
Fueled with howling vocals from frontman Tye Vallone, driven by Luke Ferracone’s guitar work, and insured through swelling organ and focused horn sounds with a hustling backbeat from bassist John Evin Groome and Peter Snyder on drums, the band twists in elements of blues, funk, soul and rock resulting in a revival of authentic performance. The group now boasts driving a 9-piece lineup ideal for larger stages featuring Vallone, Ferracone, Groome, and Snyder, as well as Mike Talento on Tenor Sax, Clayton Reilly on Trumpet, John Bickel on Organ, and Brie Parry & Rebecca Connelly on backing vocals. This full-bodied, energetic, and soulful sound can be heard on the Groove Merchants’ latest release, “Real Estate.” Released in August of 2023 and recorded in the band’s home of Fistown, Philadelphia at Miner Street the single is being hailed as potentially the group’s best yet. Produced by Grammy-winner Phil Joly and mastered by Colin Bryson out of The Bunker/Electric Lady Studios in NYC, the song has already received major airplay on WXPN Philadelphia and NPR affiliate WDIY in Bethlehem.

Featherbird
Featherbird is a garage funk band from Philadelphia, PA. Led by Jake Kaplan on the bass guitar, the band pulls from influences such as classic cars, oversized cowboy hats, and skateboarding. The group features a full rhythm and horn section, which brings the bands instrumental identity to the forefront of their performances. Sunglasses optional, dancing required.

Drew and the Blue
Garage-kept rock ‘n’ roll madness. Original parts. Est. 2018 in Reading, Pennsylvania. Drew & the Blue is Drew West, Taylor Lawrence, and Mandy Veloz. Their latest release, Cigarette, is a love letter to tobacco. It elicits the feelings of younger days when you had to steal a cigarette from a parent or an older friend. It calls back to a time when aesthetic was more important than health. Why not? The band takes inspiration from the sounds of garage and surf, along with many of the primordial rock ‘n’ roll icons. Their debut self-titled album was released in April 2022, and provided the band with a platform to begin touring the east coast of the U.S. Love You to Death, their first single off the album, is a tale of desperate love. Oogie Boogie, the second single, provides the sonic backdrop to an autumnal haunted house party. The Blue has opened for bands such as: Black Lips, Jon Spencer, Bloodshot Bill, Nekromantix, and Daikaiju. Stay tuned for new releases in December.
