James Morozin (Lead Singer), Johnny Brennan (Bass), Matt Kelly (Guitar), Chuck Haegele (Guitar), and Bill Carley (Drums). The band started with two cousins Chuck and Johnny looking for other musicians to jam with, they found Matt on craigslist and Bill from an older band. This lineup stayed the same, but finding the right singer was the hard part. Until, James with no prior singing experience asked to step in and he was the guy for the job! They have since gained a small presence on social media with their “Lodi” cover by CCR on youtube, and from their first live show. They have a good setlist of original tunes and are headed to the studio in November to record their first ever EP. They enjoy playing and writing in the style of older, retro rock but like to put their own modern twist on their songs. Refusing to call playing music a career, the combo endures, at least in its own mind. Says chief songwriter Scott McCaughey: “We never broke up and we probably never will.”The Bret Tobias SetBret’s a Replacements-addled gen-x romantic still humming from the big bang of discovering MTV’s 120 Minutes in its prime (i.e. before Nirvana ruined everything). Imagine being 14 years old in Reagan’s America and hearing Sonic Youth’s “Expressway to yr Skull,” or Flesh For Lulu’s “Postcards from Paradise,” or the The Mighty Lemon Drops’ “Inside Out,” or The Wishniaks’ “Day to End All Days” or The House of Love’s “I Don’t Know Why I Love You,” or Scruffy The Cat’s “Mybabyshesalright” for the first time. Kaboom.
